TRAVEL TO CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

The Chobe National Park is a wildlife paradise situated along the magnificent Chobe River. Whether arriving by air or road, the first glimpse of the river twisting and turning across extensive plains, is always breathtaking.

The most accessible and frequently visited of Botswana’s big game reserves is the Chobe National Park. The Chobe River supports a rich diversity of wildlife unparalleled anywhere else in the country.

The central point of arrival and departure is the town of Kasane.

In an open 4x4 off-road vehicle, or a powerboat, you may encounter hundreds of elephant as they graze from the indigenous forests, or quench their thirst from the cool waters of the Chobe River. Other wildlife includes various species of antelope, giraffe, buffalo and baboons.  You may even spot a pride of lions close to the water or a shy leopard resting in a tree.

The Chobe River rises in the northern Angolan highlands, and travels a vast distance before it reaches Botswana. Together with the Okavango and Zambezi rivers, it carries more water than all other rivers in Southern Africa and is a magnificent sight to encounter.

BEST TIMES TO GO

swirl 2

April to October

As the dry season accelerates, foliage becomes scarce and water is in high demand by the resident wildlife, resulting in easy animal viewing

November to March

The rainy season drives the animals inland where they find an abundance of natural watering holes. The vegetation is lush, providing the smaller animals with camouflage from the predators
