Cape Town comes out tops for all the foodies out there, and the explorers AND those just looking to take in the sublime beauty of our Mother City! It is now the fourth year in a row that Cape Town has held this prestigious position, this year outgunning both Vancouver and Venice.
As part of the esteemed Telegraph Travel Awards and then also the Condé Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards surveys, travellers were asked to rank their favourite cities in the world. Although there was a new dominance in Asian cities, Cape Town managed to attain the number one position - beating the likes of Dubai, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv for best food city.
Mayor Patricia de Lille’s spokeswoman, Zara Nicholson, said: “This is a truly amazing commendation for Cape Town. Our food culture is one of the most diverse and distinct in the world and we are home to some of the world’s best restaurants and hotels boosted by our breathtaking natural views.”
