Tea; don’t just drink it… make it a luxury experience you’ll never forget when you travel to South Africa!

Holding the sixth position on the esteemed National Geographic’s Top 10 Picnic Spots in the world, the 36-hectare Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain is a beautiful blend of manicured grounds and rugged mountain vegetation.

Though tea is served in the tearoom and not in the garden itself, the views are spectacular, the walks are invigorating and the high tea is simply scintillating!

The cosy and casual tearoom is owned by chef and cookbook authoress Pamela Shippel-Granoth, whose delectable and unpretentious baked goods go down a treat with a piping hot mug of tea (yes, you read right), with the teabag still dangling so you can remove it when your optimal flavour strength is reached.

Each two-tiered stand comes with a choice of egg mayonnaise-and-horse radish or cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches on your choice of bread; two mini spinach and feta quiches; two utterly delectable home-made scones with jam and clotted cream and two slices of cake (a choice between cheese cake, chocolate and carrot).

Kirstenbosch’s tearoom is well-known for professional service that is the perfect blend of friendly and efficient - all the attentiveness you need.

Toddlers can sit on high chairs at the table with you, scribbling on paper with crayons that your waitress should be more than accommodating to organise.
