One of South Africa’s leading hotel groups Legacy Hotels has recently signed a management and refurbishment contract with African Sun Hotels of Zimbabwe. The development will see Legacy hotels take on the management of the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls a hotel with over 250 bedrooms, a golf course and the largest conference facility in the area.
Bart Dorrestian, the chairman of Legacy Hotels, confirmed the development and was excited in the new opportunity saying that his company felt the timing was right for the improvement in Tourism to Zimbabwe and to this region of Africa.
It seems that the contract also includes a property in Hwange which is likely the Hwange Safari Lodge a 90 bedroomed property right on the edge of the world acclaimed Hwange National Park and built in front of one of the major river lines that provide for good game sightings in this area. It also seems that the Old Troutbeck Inn Hotel is to be included. Troutbeck is situated in the Nyanga district of the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe and is known for the mountain streams, dams and scenes reminiscent of parts of Scotland.
The Legacy Group of Hotels includes famous properties such as the DaVinci Hotel and Suites of Sandton and the Commodore the group’s flagship property in Cape Town. The group however is no stranger to operating in neighbouring countries with two successful properties in Namibia namely the Swakopmund Hotel and the Windhoek Country Club.
