TRAVEL TO VICTORIA FALLS
The Town of Victoria Falls lies directly next to the waterfalls of the same name, located in the western region of Zimbabwe, across the border from Livingstone, Zambia, and near Botswana.
Besides exploring the rain forest of Victoria Falls, there are numerous land and water-based activities to enjoy. Canoeing on the Zambezi River above the Victoria Falls is a great opportunity to encounter wildlife. A sunset cruise on the Zambezi allows you to take in the most beautiful golden African sunset reflecting off the water surface.
A helicopter ride over the Victoria Falls will give you a ‘bird’s eye view’ of the magnitude and scale of this natural wonder.
Visit the Victoria Falls Hotel for a colonial ‘high tea ‘and enjoy a magnificent view of the Victoria Falls Bridge and gorge. Take a horseback safari through the African bush, then shop in the Curio Market in the heart of the town where you can bargain for wood and stone carvings, bright African fabrics and fine hand-crafted jewelry.
BEST TIMES TO GO
March to October
After the heavy rains which occur between November and February, the Zambezi river rises, creating a raging torrent of water over Victoria Falls and resulting in steady mists over the surrounding rain forest. Towards the end of the year, as the water level drops, Victoria Falls reduces to a softer flow of water with virtually no mist to be seen, only the ever-present rainbow which spans the gorge across the Falls.
